It makes the lights more efficient,” he said. “We use the lights to extend the day, essentially tricking the plants into thinking it’s still daytime.” One US firm is already experimenting with a giant warehouse in Texas, which hides a vast hi-tech pink growing area where 2.2 million plants and crops will only see sunlight at the end of their life.
