Tianyi Zheng, Tin-e 鄭天依Hong Kong / Rotterdam, NL. 
ztine2013@gmail.comTianyi Zheng, Tin-e (1995, Hubei) is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher based in Hong Kong and the Netherlands. Working with moving images, installations, found objects, text, and performance, her practice explores the entangled relations between urban space, displacement, memory, and identity in the context of globalisation and diaspora. Using hauntology and heterotopology as methods, she investigates how personal and collective memories linger and reconfigure through storytelling and site-based research.

Zheng holds an MFA in Media, Art, Design and Technology (MAD Tech) from the Frank Mohr Institute (2021) and a BA in Fine Arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2018). Her work has been exhibited at the Simose Art Museum (Hiroshima, 2025), Art Rotterdam (2025), K11 Art Village (Wuhan, 2024), and Het Wilde Weten (Rotterdam, 2023). She is currently a resident of the Young Arts Tech Talents programme (HKADC, 2024–2025). Zheng is the recipient of the Jan Naaijkens Prize (2022) and has received support from the Mondriaan Fonds, Amarte Fonds, and CBK Rotterdam. She also co-initiated the Wild Art Festival (2017–2020), engaging with public space and artistic community building.
             鄭天依（1995年，湖北）是一位跨領域藝術家與研究者，現居於香港與荷蘭。她的創作以影像、裝置、現成物、文本與表演為媒介，關注全球化、遷徙與離散語境下的城市空間、身份轉換與集體記憶。她運用異托邦與幽靈徘徊學（hauntology）的方法，透過故事講述與場域研究，探討個人與文化記憶如何在空間中遺留與重構。

鄭於2021年畢業於荷蘭Frank Mohr Institute，獲媒體藝術碩士學位，2018年畢業於香港中文大學藝術系。她近期參與駐村與展覽包括：下瀬美術館（廣島，2025）、Art Rotterdam（鹿特丹，2025）、K11藝術村（武漢，2024）、Het Wilde Weten（鹿特丹，2023）。她曾獲荷蘭蒙德里安基金、Amarte Fonds、CBK Rotterdam等資助，並榮獲Jan Naaijkens Prize（2022）。她亦曾策劃《野生藝術節》（2017–2020），致力於推動藝術與社群的對話。

Where Comes Mulan is a research-based moving-image installation that weaves video, photo, sound, and space to explore “Mulan” as a complex symbol across history, myth, and nationhood. Since the 1990s, the artist’s hometown has been reshaped into “Mulan Township,” where she is staged as a brand and spectacle. Yet in memories, she appears as a commodity, martyr, goddess, and ghost. This work searches between grand official narratives and everyday memory, asking: Where is Mulan, and how does she echo in the present?

《木蘭何處》是一個藝術研究與影像裝置計劃，透過多頻影像、攝影、聲音與空間的交織，探討「花木蘭」這一跨越歷史、神話與國族敘事的複雜符號。從九十年代起的旅遊與城鄉發展脈絡下，藝術家的老家漸漸變成了「木蘭鄉」。在當地，木蘭被塑造成一種品牌與景觀；而在個人與集體記憶裡，她同時是商品、烈士、女神與幽靈。本作品嘗試在官方宏大敘事與日常記憶縫隙中尋找木蘭的另一種存在，以「何處」這一開放性提問，重新召喚並想像她在當代的迴聲。

My Shadow on Your Dust
2025Three-room total installation, found objects, interactive devices, single-channel video, sound, Arduino.

In My Shadow on Your Dust, Tianyi Zheng traces the fragmented lives of secondhand objects collected in Hiroshima—from antique shops, flea markets, to the forgotten underground storage of Motomachi. These materials become protagonists in a spatial narrative that unfolds across three interconnected rooms: a single-channel video monologue reflecting on displacement and the memory of things; a choreographed series of kinetic installations reanimating objects through programmed motion and light; and a simulated storage room where sensors trigger radio static, flickering lights, and rustling paper, transforming the viewer into an unintentional performer.

By combining DIY electronics, atmospheric sound, and repurposed objects, Zheng constructs a haunted theatre of everyday remains—contemplating the fragile ties between personal history, political absence, and the residues of postwar material culture.

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

Objects might be discarded or forgotten, but their existence in time is not to be denied—and they haunt beholders of what is lost in time, memory and culture. In Tianyi Zheng’s total installation, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, these ‘ghosts’ of the past regain their presence in a replica living room, copied from her previous artist residency in the Hague. The art space she stayed at was originally an antique shop, now refitted for the Hong Kong diaspora. Almost mirroring the malleability of space and the fluidity of memory, she constructs the imagined room in Hong Kong. The boundary of past and future, or that of fiction and reality, dissipates along the interactions that happen within the space, as memories of dwelling and displacement are also recalled.

A Collection of Urban Nothingness is an ongoing project, focused on collecting urban domestic waste and investigating people's travels and displacements. Through a process of collecting, wandering, and constructing, this project seeks to examine the often-overlooked ways in which waste is caused by mobility and to highlight the hidden stories and histories embedded in discarded objects, especially discarded furniture and household items.

The Ship of Fools
2023Site-specific installation, videos, found objects, paintings, performance
Size virableTianyi Zheng's solo exhibition "Ship of Fools" at Gallerieboii is a poignant and immersive exploration of memory, displacement, and socio-political flux. Returning to Hong Kong after nearly four years, Zheng re-engages with a space that was once her studio and living quarters, now transformed into a project space. This exhibition metaphorically charts the journey of an exiled madman who revisits with a treasure trove of forgotten stories, fantastical dreams, and haunted memories.

"Ship of Fools" features a site-specific installation comprising videos, found objects, paintings, and performances. Zheng not only revisits her personal history but also reflects on Hong Kong’s broader socio-political landscape. This exhibition is a testament to her ability to weave together personal narratives and collective experiences, creating a space for reflection and dialogue.

2022Process-based collective work with Ida Leijting, Lena Longefay, Eliisa Loukola and Bart&#38;amp;Klaar 
Size virable&#38;nbsp;Methodologies of open windows, pigeons, newsletters and recipes.For the last couple of months, we have been travelling to each other's homes; from Arnhem to Amsterdam, Groningen to Utrecht and Tilburg to (almost) The Hague.Like birds, we have been gathering materials and ideas for the nests that we are building. We have become ninja’s, clowns and caretakers, and shared dinners and picnics in the sun. We have been writing newsletters and walked amongst the feral pigeons; together (re)building our universes, our knowledge huts.Pigeons are considered both pests and pets, they are praised for their homing abilities but despised for their invasiveness.Acting as a continuous nesting process (or almost a residency), the exhibition will open halfway through, as an on-site sharing of our methodologies, but also as a celebration of our conceptual common ground. Until the very end we will be challenging and (re)building each other 's works, in order to rethink what art making really means.
